EssayMate User Guide
Getting Started:
Step 1: Log In
• Log in to your EssayMate account.
Step 2: Open Essay Chat
• From the left sidebar, open Essay Chat.
Creating Your Essay:
Step 3: Describe the Assignment
- Tell Essay Chat what you need written, revised, or reviewed.
- Include the topic, word count, citation style, deadline, and any structural requirements.
- Upload supporting PDFs or source materials when they matter for the assignment.
- If you want the draft to sound more like you, build your Writing Style profile first.
Important Tips:
- Your topic should clearly reflect the assignment title and the type of document you need.
- Use the prompt to spell out structure, tone, and any special grading or citation requirements.
- For web sources, convert them to PDF using your browser's Print → Save as PDF feature. Avoid scanned PDFs.
- If you need open-access sources, visit Semantic Scholar and use the Has PDF filter.
Chat Workflow:
Step 4: Start the Draft
- Send your request in chat and let EssayMate generate the first draft.
- Watch the progress events as the system plans, writes, and prepares the artifact.
- Use follow-up prompts to refine the draft, request structural changes, or adjust the tone.
Step 5: Review the Output
• Review the draft in the preview pane, then continue the conversation until the result is where you want it.
Step 6: Use Writing Style
• Visit Writing Style to upload past samples and improve how future drafts match your voice.
Post-Generation Options:
Step 7: Actions on the Draft
- Download the draft once it is ready.
- Request professional editing or review with your deadline and any extra instructions.
- Run post-processing tools such as grammar, humanization, or report checks when needed.
Step 8: Tracking Reviews
- Use the Submissions area to monitor reviewer work and continue the conversation with your reviewer.
- When a review is complete, download the polished DOCX and request revisions if needed.
Managing Your Essays:
Step 9: View Generated Essays
- Open Generated Essays on the sidebar to revisit earlier drafts and downloads.
You can now draft, revise, and submit essays through the chat-first workflow.
